А теперь новость, которая расстроит фанатов Аасбо - Федя больше не ездит на Supra. Одна из двух наиболее популярных дрифт Supra теперь заменена на Scion tC. Из известных дрифтеров на Supra остался только Оридо-сан =)

Team Need for Speed and Papadakis Racing join forces for 2011 Formula Drift season with 2010 FD Rookie of the Year Fredric Aasbo behind the wheel

BALTIMORE, Md. (February 10, 2011) — Need for Speed and Papadakis Racing have partnered up for the 2011 Formula Drift season and have brought on board the 2010 Rookie of of the Year and Nordic Drift Champion, Fredric Aasbo, to drive the Need for Speed 2011 Scion tC.

Fredric Aasbo proved very successful in the 2010 season, finalizing the year in 13th place and voted Formula D’s “Rookie of the Year”. Joining forces with Need for Speed and Papadakis Racing will make for a strong season for an all-out, foot-to-the-floor drifter such as Fredric. “Being brought onboard by the Need for Speed family and to partner with Papadakis Racing is more than a dream come true – it’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Fredric. “I feel extremely honored and I could not feel more inspired! I have huge shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of my idol Tanner Foust, but I can assure you I will give it all I’ve got – and then some – in the 2011 Formula Drift Championship piloting the Team Need for Speed Scion tC.”

The Papadakis Racing team, whose extensive history in motorsports shows continuous achievements and success, is building a brand new competition car for talented drifter Fredric Aasbo to pilot in the rapidly approaching Formula Drift season. “Our new 2011 Scion tC is yet another challenging build,” says Stephan Papadakis of Papadakis Racing. “As other Formula D teams are still trying to keep up in competition by changing to V8 engines, we will break the trend and compete with a 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. I am confident that this car with Fredric behind the wheel is Championship quality. That is our goal!”

Adding a new car and driver to their roster, Papadakis Racing is excited to take on the challenge of putting the pieces together to build a strong Formula Drift effort for a highly-anticipated 2011 season. Stephan continues: “After watching Fredric drive in 2010, I felt he had what it takes to make it big in Formula Drift. He was my first choice when we looked for a new driver and the new Scion tC will suit him well. Our plan is to work together and build from what he started as Rookie of the Year in 2010 to Champion of the series.”

Papadakis Racing’s previous driver, two-time FD champ Tanner Foust, will be stepping back from Formula Drift in 2011 due to transitions in his career. “Tanner is an amazing driver and great personality,” says Stephan. “It has been a pleasure to work with him for five years of drift. Our team thanks him for his hard work and determination.”

Long Beach, Calif. – February 10th, 2011 – Formula DRIFT has announced that 2-time Formula DRIFT champion, Tanner Foust will temporarily step away from the sport of drifting. In conjunction, Papadakis Racing and Team Need For Speed have announced the signing of the 2010 Formula DRIFT Rookie of the Year, Fredric Aasbo.
“Tanner’s semi-retirement is bittersweet for the Series as he has become one of the most recognizable drivers on the circuit and is one of the most competitive spokesmen for Formula DRIFT,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “As with the growth and progression of the Series we can expect to see opportunities brought to many of the drivers and wish Tanner more success in his career both on and off the track. His departure will leave a spot open for a future star of drifting to rise, which we are excited to see.”
Foust has announced his temporary retirement from drifting due to a demanding 2011 schedule of European Rally events, X-Games and television responsibilities. The 2-time Formula DRIFT champion and Tires.com Triple Crown bonus winner will be competing one last time in the Rockstar / Papadakis Racing Scion tC on February 25, 2010 during the Formula DRIFT UAE Invitational competition.
“I owe a lot to Formula DRIFT and Stephan Papadakis. This sport, Stephan and his team have been, and will remain, an integral part of my motorsports life,” said Tanner Foust, from his home in San Juan Capistrano. “This was a hard choice to make, but with my schedule looking even busier than last year’s I will not be able to fully commit to the 2011 Formula DRIFT season. However, I am looking forward to competing in the Rockstar Scion tC for one last time in Abu Dhabi this month.” With an open seat, team owner, Stephan Papadakis has enlisted the highly touted and talented driver, Fredric Aasbo. In addition, a newly created partnership with Team Need For Speed has solidified the alliance. Aasbo will be competing in the brand new Need for 2011 Scion tC this season with the competition debut during Round 1: Streets of Long Beach on April 8-9, 2011.

Formula DRIFT Announces Official Driver List for Inaugural Formula DRIFT UAE Invitational Competition

Long Beach, Calif. – January 19, 2011 – Formula DRIFT has announced the official entry list for the Inaugural Formula Drift UAE Invitational Competition at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on February 25, 2011.
A diverse selection of the top drivers from around the globe will showcase world-class drifting to the Middle East. The official roster of drivers include: past Scandinavian champion, Fredric Aasbo, 2009 Formula DRIFT champion, Chris Forsberg, 2-time Formula DRIFT champion and 3-time X-Games Gold Medalist Tanner Foust, top ranking driver, Ryan Tuerck, past New Zealand champion and Formula DRIFT USA & Asia competitor, Mike Whiddett, Formula DRIFT veteran Daijiro Yoshihara and Formula Drift regulars Ken Gushi, and Michael Essa along with Tony Brakohiapa as the alternate driver.

Не согласен абсолютно Форсберг шикарно ехал, лучше Таннера. Да и в финальном заезде смотрелся весьма достойно)

он ошибку серьезную допустил по траектрории и выпрямился, так же как и в финале

я так в питере шику проиграл, был ближе - но выпрямился на секунду

Таннер тоже почти выпрямился Ладно, возможно дело в моих личных симпатиях к Форсбергу, скорее всего буду за него болеть в это сезоне.
